Diesen Donnerstag (3. April) werden wir endlich die Vereinsgründung angehen. Besucher sind natürlich weiterhin willkommen, aber bitte habt Verständnis wenn wir ab 20:00 mit Organisatorischem Kram beschäftigt sind

Organisational meeting this thursday (April 3rd)

This week we will begin with the first official steps towards a hackerspace-association for ulm. Feel free to visit the Freiraum as always. However, please understand that our members will mostly be busy with organising things.

Einige Mitglieder aus dem Freiraum werden vorraussichtlich die Embedded World in Nürnberg besuchen.

Das ganze wird vermutlich am ersten Messetag, dem 25.2. statt finden. Bisher sind noch Plätze im Auto frei, d.h. wer noch eine Mitfahrgelegenheit sucht kann sich gerne per E-Mail melden (Mailadresse findet ihr unter Kontakt.

Anlässlich der Bundestagswahl 2013 wird der Freiraum am Sonntag (22.September) vorraussichtlich von 12-20 Uhr geöffnet sein.

Wir werden wählen (oder auch nicht), Statistiken erstellen (oder es zumindest versuchen), das Bundesradio Wahlstudio schauen (oder was sonst gewünscht wird) oder den Wahltag sonstwie hackertypisch begehen.

Besucher sind wie immer herzlich eingeladen.

Auch Geeks machen Urlaub und deshalb wird der Freiraum heute (5. September) vermutlich nicht geöffnet sein (es sei denn von den Mitgliedern kommt doch jemand).

Every Thursday there is a Meeting day in the Hackerspace Ulm (also known as the Freiraum). New people are always welcome to join us.

Last Thursday (22nd of August 2013) there were lots of things happening in the Hackerspace. We build some ham radio (Funkamateur) antennas and then we measured them using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The antennas were surprisingly good although we did them quickly using some cheap basic material. The nature of laws don’t respect the price of building materials ;)

We also found out that the VNA is a really good instrument for testing different kind of antenna types that people themselves invent. Its really easy and quick just to make an antenna and them measure it. Then you can make some changes and measure again. This could be called evolutionary antenna building.

There were also other things happening. Some people presented their projects ideas and other people were giving comments and new ideas to them. This way the projects can get lots of input and some problems can be solved. It’s also an opportunity to get other people interested of the project and get them on board. To make something together makes it more fun.

Leider können 2 von den 3 Vortragenden diese Woche doch nicht. Deshalb werden die Lightning-Talks erstmal verschoben (vermutlich um 2 Wochen). Genaueres gibts aber dann bei Zeiten hier und auf der Mailingliste.
